Keep the Bugs at Bay: Fall Mosquitoes Are Still Around
Even as the leaves turn golden and the days get shorter, mosquitoes haven't packed it in yet.
Waterloo Region Public Health reminds us to keep protecting ourselves from mosquito bites right up until the first frost. Cooler fall weather doesn't mean mosquitoes disappear—they're still out there looking for a meal.
**A few reminders:**
- Wear long sleeves and pants when you're outside, especially at dawn and dusk
- Use insect repellent on exposed skin
- Clear standing water from your yard—even a little puddle is a mosquito nursery
- Keep screens on windows and doors in good repair
The region has confirmed a human case of West Nile Virus this year, so this isn't just about itchy bumps. A little caution now keeps everyone safer.
Stay comfortable out there, Cambridge. Fall is beautiful—just keep those bugs from spoiling it.
