Blue-Green Algae Alert: Keep Pets and Kids Safe at Local Reservoirs

As we head into the cooler months, the Grand River Conservation Authority is reminding us that blue-green algae notices are still in effect at several local spots, including Shade's Mills and Guelph Lake. Blue-green algae can be harmful to people and pets, so it's best to keep your distance and avoid any contact with the water if you see algae blooms. This is especially important for little ones and furry friends who might be tempted to splash around. If you're planning a fall outing to the reservoir or lake, stick to the shore and enjoy the views from a safe distance. Keep an eye out for posted warnings, and if you spot anything that doesn't look right, report it to the Conservation Authority. Stay safe out there, friends!
